- God is the creator of all things (Ps. 115:15,16; Isa. 44:24; John 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-17)
- God loves creation, and desires its full restoration (Acts 3:21; John 3:16,17; Col. 1:20;
Rom. 8:19-22)
- All that can be known of God is that which God chooses to reveal (John 1:18)
- God chose to reveal the divine nature through creation (Ps. 19:1; Rom. 1:20)
- Humans were created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26,27; 2:7)
- Jesus is God in flesh and fully reveals the character and nature of God (John 1:14;
Col. 1:15,19; Heb. 1:3,4)
- The Church is the continuing expression of Christ as the Body of Christ. Emphasis
must be placed on God’s witness through the Church (Eph. 1:15-23; 2:19-22;
3:14-21), not on Christians as individuals. The purpose of each Christian should
be to function as part of the whole (John 15:1-13; I Cor. 12:4-31; Rom. 12:1-8;
Eph. 4:1-16; I Peter 4:7-11)
- The wisdom of God is to provide local, specific, concrete and particular witness in
places through local, specific, concrete and particular communities most often
formed in local congregations
- The mission of God is broader than our personal salvation from hell to heaven. God
is at work reconciling all things and people in creation through Christ
(Acts 3:19-26; Rom. 8:12-25; Col. 1:13-23; Heb. 13:1-19; I Peter 2:4-10;
Rev. 21:1)
- Discipleship begins with self-denial and self-sacrifice (Mt. 16:21-28; Luke 9:18-27;
and continues through our submitting to God’s transformation of our mind
(Rom. 12:1,2) into the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:1-11)
- God is love (I John 4:8). Jesus is the personification of love, and love is the trans-
forming power of God in the world (I John 3:1 - 4:21; I Cor. 13; Rom. 8:26-39)
